Woman makes a sand painting, A seated woman (actor Segawa Kikunoj? V (1802-32) in an unknown woman role), makes a sand painting on a sheet of lacquerware. Next to the painting are two spoons, a wooden spatula and a paint box on the far left. The painting represents Mount Fuji, seen from the beach of Matsu no Shimabara. The cloud next to Fuji, in the form of a dragon, refers to the new year of the dragon. Making sand paintings was a popular pastime for women from the 1920s onwards, perhaps earlier. With two poems.
