Top down view of a large yellow underwing moth (Noctua pronuba) resting on a branch in a garden habitat. The flight period is July to September with a single brood each year often increasing in numbers due to migratory influxes. This species is a member of the Noctuidae family and is found throughout the UK, Europe and the palearctic ecozone. The larval food plants are a range of plants and grasses. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in September.
