The anterior lobe of the hypophysis (pituitary gland) contains two main types of glandular cells described as acidophilic and basophilic cells (more scarce in this image) according to the staining of their cytoplasm. These cells form cords separated by conjunctive septa occupied by sinusoid capillaries of wide and irregular lumen.
