495408 Hori Kingi Te Anaua, Leader of the Ngati Ruaka Tribe, c.1860 (b/w photo) by Bishop, G. W. (fl.1860s); Private Collection; (add.info.: Te Anaua, of Putiki Wharanui pa, near the mouth of the Wanganui River, was the leader of Ngati Ruaka of Te Ati Haunui-a-Paparangi in the early and mid nineteenth century. He was baptised by the missionary John Mason at Putiki on 25 December 1842, and took the name Hori Kingi (George King). It is possible that this photograph is from a group of images that Bishop took of some Maori leaders who met at Kohimarama to discuss the Treaty of Waitangi in 1860.); New Zealander, out of copyright.
