Entamoeba gingivalis can be found within the spaces of the teeth, gingival pockets (gums) or tonsils. It can be spread by direct oral transmission, such as kissing, or indirect oral transmission such as eating contaminated food and using contaminated eating utensils. This amoeba can develop in patients who also have periodontal disease and gingivitis.
