The exhaust section of a Boeing 787 jet engine photographed at the 2011 Paris Air Show. The image shows a serrated edge to the engine nacelle which is designed to reduce engine exhaust noise by controlling the airflow and reducing turbulence of the air after it passes through and around the engine. The serrations are known as chevrons.
