This medieval street had survived into the Victorian period. Shoes for sale are displayed outside the corner shop on the left. Behind this is one of the old clothes shops that were located in this area. The picture is painted in thick, opaque watercolour, and is one of many small pictures of the old streets of Newcastle painted by Peter Toft.
