3959636 Thorleif Hnakki\'s Cross Slab, c.1906 (ink on paper) by Kermode, Philip Moore Callow (1855-1932); 151x49 cm; Manx National Heritage (Isle of Man); (add.info.: This drawing of a Viking age stone cross from Braddan was made by the first Curator of the Manx Museum, P.M.C. Kermode. His intricate copying of the designs on all of the crosses have preserved much of the detail that the carvers wanted people to see. This cross has intricately intertwined dragons on all sides, as well as an inscription which tells us the name of the owner of the cross, Thorlief Hnakki. However, as well as this very Viking name and typically Scandinavian dragon, the word Ihsus, or Jesus, also appears, showing how the pagan Vikings were turning towards Christianity.); byManx National Heritage .
