5052970 Tunnels under St Barnabas church, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo) by Frowde, John James (1868-1946); Manx National Heritage (Isle of Man); (add.info.: On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "The two Tunnels, one, left, from Laxey Inn Yard (Mother Pratt\'s house), the other, right, from Market Inn corner of Chapel Lane and New Bond Street via New Bond Street, the stable at rear of cottage no.8 Seneschal Lane, the Coal Yard on the site of the Ramsey Inn, cellar of 11 Seneschal Lane, cellar of 3 St. Barnabas Square and both disappearing under the wll of the small yard at west end of the Church Tower. The tops of the tunnels were stated to be about four feet below the surface by the foreman in charge of the job. Enlarged from small section of a \'20 film. Two subterranean tunnels going under St. Barnabas\' Church towards the shore. That on right was struck deep in the sand above Smagg\'s in Seneschal Lane and that on right ended under the cellar of Mother Pratt\'s pioneer boarding house in Laxey Inn Yard. They would proibably merge into a single passage on their way to the beach. Each 7 feet high, 6 feet wide, and paved."); by Manx National Heritage .
