5052874 McGhie\'s old house, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo) by Frowde, John James (1868-1946); Manx National Heritage (Isle of Man); (add.info.: On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "McGhie\'s old house which adjoined his baths, and appears in the Keig 1860 pictures. The Peveril Hotel was built up against it, and the window arrangements had to be adapted to meet the situation. The \'tree at the Peveril Corner\' mentioned by my good friend Archie Knox in a number of the \'Mannin\' magazine. That is the only tree in a very wide area. It is of low growth, but has been seriously pollarded at some time. Note the thickness of the bole." Additional note: "Paced 1st Sunday in April; from E side of the Great \'sellar\' of No1 Fort St. to Bath-Place Corner 72 yards thence to Peveril Corner 31 yds, thence to centre of the Fort Rampart 31-32 yards approx 135 yards. Halfbeam (?) of rampart 45 feet approx. The distance from Bath Place Corner to the Peveril frontline is exactly or practically that there from paced E in a line with McGhie\'s frontage at the centre of the Fort rampart - with 2 or 3 yards to step for the approx position."); by Manx National Heritage .
