The case with foliate cast gilt-metal frets to the domed top surmounted by an urn finial, doors to the sides each set with elaborately cast gilt-metal sound frets, each out-set angle applied with flower-draped volutes and the moulded base supported by bifurcated scroll feet, the dial with white enamel chapter disc with Turkish chapters and pierced gilt-metal hands, signed in the centre Markwick Markham Borrell London, the silver mask decorated with restored blue, turquoise and pink enamels, re-enamelled lower subsidiary dials for Music/Not Music and Strike/Silent, the upper left dial with four tune selection for the musical bell train, the right dial for eight tune selection for the pipe organ, the arch with twisted glass rods simulating the sea with six ships of the line, the massive four train movement with verge escapement and hour strike on a bell, music playing every three hours on both bells and organ, the musical bell train wound to the fusee square beneath the upper left subsidiary dial playing on seven bells via twelve hammers, the organ playing on sixteen pipes (restored) via a massive 8in. long wood barrel, each sides of the plates engraved with foliage and signed Henry Borrell Exchange London, with restorations); Photo by Christie\'s Images.
