Communists Greet Correspondents With Sign -- This sign, painted by Communist prisoners of war, greeted correspondents when they were permitted to visit compound 76 on Koje island where the prison camp commander, Brig. Gen. Francis T. Dodd was held prisoner for 78 hours before being released unharmed. The sign reads: "We declare under joint responsibility that U.S. army will not kill again pws of Korean people's army and Chinese candidate, USA Brig. Gen. Dodd. USA Brig. Gen. Colson." U.S. Army officials offered no explanation of the sign. General Colson was put in command of the camp after Dodd was seized. May 14, 1952. (Photo by AP Wirephoto).
