Parish Church's 1300th Anniversary -- A view of William Cowpoer's tomb and memorial window in Dereham Church. The post spent the last four years of his life in the town and died in a house in the Market Place. He was buried in the church on May 3rd, 1800. The memorial was designed by John Flaxman, R. A. The memorial window depicting the poet and various scenes from his works was placed above the memorial in 1900. The Parish Church of St. Nicholas, East Dereham, Norfolk, one of the oldest churches of royal foundation in the country, is soon to celebrate the 1,300th anniversary of its foundation.
