New Roman Discoveries -- A view of the hall mosaic of the villa. Excavations are now being continued on the site of a Roman villa found last year in a field at Whittington, and overford, Glos. The latest work has uncovered two rooms with hot-air heating and a large paved hall leading to small paved rooms. Evidence shows that the building was in use during the 2nd century A.D. 4th century coins, a silver spoon, bronze bracelets and various articles of pottery have been found. The work is under the direction of Mrs. O. Neill, who is being aided by men and women students from a training college. August 23, 1949. (Photo by Fox Photos).
