The Mount Everest Expedition An example of one of the wonderful ice formations of Mount Everest's glaciers. The most remarkable scenery in the journey up the glaciers to Everest is the broken ice of the glaciers, forming sometimes pinnacles 300-400 feet high. These pinnacles are made by the cracking of the ice as the glacier twists and turns down the mountain valley leading down from its flanks. The colour of these icy spires is very beautiful - a pale blue when seen at a distance, assuming a green transparent tint close at hand. July 11, 1924. (Photo by The Times Service).
