R.A.F. Lincolns Over Polar Regions -- Glaciers (huge frozen rivers of ice move imperceptibly) and enter the sea spattered with drifting ice, between two islands - Near the Hold with Hope Island - in the Arctic. Five aircraft of the R.A.F. Flying College at Manby have just completed a series of navigational training flights to the Arctic. One of them the Aries III made a 3,553 mile non-stop flight from the advance base at Keflavk, Iceland across the North Pole to Alaska. The other four Lincolns made navigational flights from Keflavik into the Arctic Circle flying over Shannon Island and Greenland. July 27, 1951. (Photo by BIPPA).
