Us Ships: Greenpeace's "Iowa" Protest OPS member of the environmental action group Greenpeace trying to stop the US Naval ship Iowa entering Kiel Harbor, West Germany. The Protesters manned rubber dinghies and held banners, close to the ship, to protest at the probable nuclear weapons that the Iowa was carrying. The Greenpeace protestors were eventually stopped by marine police, just as the Iowa entered the harbour. The incident took place on 16th June, 1989. July 25, 1950. (Photo by Camera Press).
