The biggest avalanche in the history of Mt. Fuji--Japan's sacred mountain -- on November 29th swept 16 University students thousands of feet to their deaths. Three students had miraculous escapes, emerging alive after they had been swept nearly 1000 feet. The course of the avalanche can be seen in the deep cleft of the let bottom *****. January 11, 1955.
