Britain Talks to Her Ships - Newest Ship-Shore Radio Station now in Service. From Burnham, a small Somersetshire village, Communication is kept with British ships all over the world in the finest ship-to-shore radio system known. The organisation, developed from wartime-experience, uses direct transmissions from the internationally-known Portishead Radio and from Admiralty transmitters in distant parts of the world. One of the more obvious results is the provision of a telegraph service between any British home and any British ship fitted with high frequency radio. July 09, 1951.
