Quartz coated with silica. The clear faces of the slender prismatic quartz crystals in this group have lost their glasslike clarity due to a thin coating of silica deposited in a later phase of mineralization. Small lumps of amorphous pyrite are seen interspersed in the sample. Actual size of sample is 130 mm top to bottom.
