Neurilemmoma, light micrograph. Neurilemmomas, or schwannomas, are rare benign tumours of slow growth derived from the peripheral nerve sheath and composed of perineural Schwann cells proliferating in a characteristic pattern. Schwannomas are composed of cellular Antoni A areas alternating with hypocellular Antoni B areas. The micrograph shows both Antoni A area and Antoni B (top left) areas.
