London, England - 2011; London has a great history-packed skyline, with many famous buildings, old and new. Here we see a panoramic view from Waterloo bridge. At the heart of the city lies St Pauls Anglican Cathedral, dating from the late 17th century; this was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren. Its great dome is a London and international landmark. But - to the right of its famous dome- the modern counterpoint is the global financial centre of the City of London; its skyline has changed dramatically over recent years. Londoners have nicknamed many of the new skyscrapers. Here we see the Gherkin, Cheese-grater and Walkie Talkie. Some buildings, like Sir Norman Foster?????愀 Gherkin (30 St Mary Axe), are widely admired. However, the Walkie Talkie (20 Fenchurch Street) is derided in equal measure because of its ungainly shape and habit of frying passers -by with reflected sunlight during the summer months.
