Spain; Andalusia; city of Seville: Detail of Eastern portal at main facade of former Royal Tobacco Factory; since 1956 seat of the rectorate of University of Seville; First plans to built a new factory on the sight of the oldest tobacco factory in Europe date back to 1725 and plans of architect Ignacio Sala. From 1731 to 1750; Diego Bordick Deverez was in charge; but construction works of the factory were realized from 1733 to 1735; only. In 1750; Flemish engineer Sebastian Van der Borcht took over and completed the building; until 1770; as the real architect of the factory. In the 1950s; the building became seat of the Rectorate of the University of Seville.
