PAIR OF BOXES WITH LID. LACQUER CARVING.

Pair of boxes with lid; round with curved side walls on short; linear foot rim. Inside and on foot covered with shiny black lacquer; the entire external wall adorned with carved red lacquer on a black background of tight rhomb pattern; stylized waves as well as chrysanthemum flowers on an octagonal background. On top on the lid in delicate polished and carved relief encounter of two sages accompanied by three boys in rocky landscape at lakefront under huge pine. Height 13cm; ?5.5cm. Condition B/C.
