RARE MA'A ROSE CEREMONIAL CLOTH DAUN BOLU.
Indonesia; Sulawesi; Toraja. 19th/20th c.
Cotton mordant dyed and painted in black and red. A huge arbor vitae on the main part of the fabric. Next to the roots on both sides depictions of the everyday life of humans. Two Tongkonan-houses in the right part; in one of them a sorceress; above her a mummy. 380 x 90 cm. Condition A/B.
