He holds the right arm in front of the chest; the left face to the right and the stretched left arm commanding the executioner as a sign that the sentence can be executed. Before him lies the decapitated body of his oldest son; behind him is a dog. In the background the torso of a convicted person with bound wrists facing a fourth; led by a Roman soldier to execute him; who is pushing him down.
