Strip of bobbin lace with semi-circular lobed flower on a curved stem; Natural strip of bobbin lace: Valenciennes lace. Coarse wires were used. The short sides are sewn together. The strip may be intended for or used on a tablecloth. The repeating pattern on the center line consists of a lying upward bent stem with a semi-circular lobed flower attached to it. The flower is crowned by two curling leaves; between which a smaller oval flower springs from a short stem. Along the underside runs a regularly undulating band with alternating and reversing waves. Between the consecutive flowers there are always three pulps at the top of the strip and at the bottom; above the wave line; a stylized French lily. The motifs are made in linen with openwork edges and here and there a single large recess or a few small ones like leaf veins. The motifs are connected by a square Valenciennes ground. In the flower heart of the large flowers an ornamental soil is applied; a snowflakes soil. The top of the strip is finished straight. The scallop edge is formed by the undulating band along the underside of the strip.; anonymous; Indonesia; c. 1900 - c. 1924; cotton (textile); Valenciennes lace; l 468 cm x w 13.7 cm x; 12 cm
