Handkerchief made of batist with a border stopper and embroidery; Handkerchief made of batist with embroidery - white work - and around a wide border of lace embroidery: tulip pierce work. Square model with round center piece of batiste. Sixteen rectangular shells are cut on the batist; finished with a narrow; open-worked edge of work with pulled-out threads. The batist is embroidered along the edge and ending in the rectangular shells with a flower branch with two large round flowers and finer calyx flowers or rose hips interspersed with four vine leaves in the following shell. The flower sprays and vine leaves are always connected with a thin pendulum with one bow and one forget-me-not. The lace pattern is the same and symmetrical on each side. The machine grommet is tucked in at every corner with a symmetrical palmetal pattern between two large drop-shaped leaves. On both sides this motif is flanked by a large flower; possibly a peony; between some large curling leaves. In the middle of each side; along the outer edge; there is a smaller palette motif between curling leaves. The scallop edge along the outside of the machine tulle stems from the pattern with the palmettes and curling leaves.; mevrouw de Lange; Netherlands; c. 1860; linen (material); embroidering; l 35 cm x w 33 cm w 4 cm x w 9.5 cm
