The red areas are ionized and heated hydrogen gas by ultraviolet radiation from massive stars in Orion. The crescent shape, Barnard's loop encircles Orion the Hunter constellation. Orion's belt (centre) is made of three stars: Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka. Orion's feet are the stars Saiph (bottom left) and Rigel (bottom right).
