Artist painting to recreate the lunar surface on the Lunar Orbit and Landing Approach (LOLA) simulator. This was one of four models built as NASA's Langley Research Center, Virgina, USA, in the 1960s as part of Project Apollo. The simulator was found to be unnecessary as it proved to be easier to navigate over the Moon than expected. It was dismantled soon after the Apollo program was discontinued. Photographed on the 8th of October 1964.
