In 1800; it was sold to merchant Jos?Antonio Portocarrero who built a new country house. In 1819; the house was abondaned. In 1820; the property was bought by the new government of now independant Colombia and donated to the first president; Sim髇 de Bol韛ar (1783 - 1830). In the next 9 years; he stayed in this colonial house for 423 days. In 1922; Quinta de Bol韛ar became a museum.
