RARE TEABOWL IN THE SHAPE OF A WESTERN WINE GOBLET.
Japan. Edo period. Ca. 1650.

Oribe stoneware; glazed transparent; painted with iron oxid and with stripes of thick green glaze. The unusual western shape is painted with grasses and chidori plovers between the
undulating stripes of green glaze. This style is called Mino-Yoshichida. Wooden box;
purple silk bag and hashira cushions. H.8.7cm; ?13.4cm. Condition A/B. Supplement: Oribe-mizusashi (19x12cm) and chawan (7x12cm); painted iron brown. Japan. 20th c. Condition A/B.
