Japan. Edo period (1603-1868) and later. a) Small insert tray (bon) with pine and flowering camellia branch. Wood with black
lacquer; powder lacquer (nashiji); gold painting (hiramaki e). The protruding edge
bordered with lead. 17th/18th c. H. 2.2cm; 15.5x13.2cm. Underneath two collection labels:
4; 9. Matching wooden box (kiribako) with inscription: "76) Bon. Hiramakie. 76) 15th
century. 4. Japan. Lacquer". Silk cloth. b) Flat bowl inside red lacquered; outside and
the wide rim black lacquer; rim decorated in Wakasa nuri with gold and silver. 20th c. H.
4;3cm; ?18cm. Wooden box. Condition A/B.
