Municipality of Joachimsthal (Schorfheide): wooden model of the cross church inside Cross Church; also called City Church and Schinkel Church; The church burned down in the great city fire; of 1814. An earlier Baroque style church in timbering or truss style; had been built; in 1609. a new stone church had been built here; from 1735 to 1738. In 1740; that church got a church tower. The city fire of 20th of April; 1814; destroyed everything. Famous Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel rebuilt the church; from 1817 to 1820. In 1970; during times of GDR; further changes were realized at the gables of the church. The church in great parts; has been renovated; since 1990; onwards.
