Bramble cay melomys (Melomys rubicola), a small rodent that was endemic to a small coral cay in the Torres Strait. A few years ago, the sea level rose enough to flood the cay at high tide and so this species became extinct, the first in Australia to do so due to climate change. Queensland, Australia. November, 2004.
