The new Berne Radio Station in Switzerland, c 1925. The towering longwave band transmitter masts were 300 feet (92 metres) high and self supporting and carried the main aerial system, the transmitter had an output of 1.2kW. Initially, Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Co. Ltd established communication stations in Berne, Paris and Madrid to provide European and international wireless telegraph services. Commencing in 1922, telegrams were transmitted and received in Morse code around 100 words a minute.
