Bee orchid (Ophrys apifera), a perennial herbaceous plant. It is an example of floral mimicry and sexual deceptive pollination. It is widespread across central and southern Europe as well as North Africa and the Middle East. In the UK, this species flowers in June and is found in calcareous habitats with low nutrients.
