Hoverfly (Eristalinus sepulchralis), also known as the spotty eyed drone fly, a member of the family Syrphidae. It is often found in damp meadows, marshes and around ponds where there is decaying vegetation. The flight period is from mid April to September. Adults feed on a wide range of flowers. This species is found across the Palearctic ecozone. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in August.
