They Hired Theatre for Fifteen Minutes. A boy and a girl who had saved for weeks for the gamble of their lives stood nervously in the wings of a West End of London theatre. Between them and the fame they longed for stood just thirteen things - one divan (On the dage) and twelve producers, theatrical agents and film secuts (in the stalls). It Cost flar-haired, blue-eyed June Elvin, 22, and repertory actor Peter Morly, 24, a pound a minute to keep those thirteen things there. Together June and Peter had hired the theatre for ?15 to give a fifteen-minute audition. June explained; "We're tired of Queueing up for auditions given by agen to and producers. We get a few lines thrust at us, and we've hardly opened our mouths before we hear "Next please" "So we decided to invite the Producers to some to our audition, Isstead. January 27, 1949.
