Plymouth Naval Memorial To Be Unveiled By Princess Margaret -- On Plymouth's historic Hoe and open to the winds that blow from the oceans - resting place of the men it commemorates - is a naval memorial, unique in the Commonwealth, to be unveiled by Princess Margaret on May 20. The memorial is unique because, at the wish of the countries concerned, it bears the names of war dead of the naval forces of Australia, South Africa, other Commonwealth territories overseas, as well as those from the British Isles. Bronze panels proudly blazon the names of some 15,600 officers and men who died during the last war and whose only grave is the sea. May 02, 1954.
