Visualisation of an event candidate in the search for leptoquark pairs, detected by the ATLAS (A Toroidal LHC Apparatus) experiments at CERN (The European Organization for Nuclear Research) in October 2017. This event shows each leptoquark candidate decaying into a muon (red) and two electrons (blue) with a missing transverse momentum (dashed, white line) of 2.1 teraelectron volts. Leptoquarks are hypothetical particles formed from the merger of leptons and quarks at high energies. They are beyond the Standard Model of particle physics.
