Light micrograph of ganglion cell bodies. Ganglion cells are found in ganglia, which are node-like structures that are part of the normal peripheral nervous system. The ganglion cells have large nuclei and prominent nucleoli (dark dots inside lighter blue circles). The cells also have abundant cytoplasm (light blue areas around nuclei). There is also light brown pigment visible in the cytoplasm. Very small capillary blood vessels containing red blood cells (bright red) lined by endothelial cell nuclei (dark blue round to oval dots) are present in between the ganglion cell bodies. Magnification: x400 when printed at 10cm wide.
