Thread veins, or spider veins, are dilated capillaries in the skin, They most often form on the cheeks, nose and legs and they can look red, blue or purple. Thread veins are very common, especially in older adults and they are usually harmless. Treatments such as sclerotherapy and laser therapy can be used for cosmetic reasons.
