Rock hyrax (Procavia capensis) feeding on vegetation. Hyraxes feed on grasses, herbs, fruits and shrubs and live in large colonies. They can also eat plants that are poisonous to most other animals, like solanaceae and euphorbinacae. Hyrax are found throughout southern Africa, Arabia and the Middle East. The hyrax is a ruminant and is the closest living relative to the elephant. Photographed in the Cederberg area of the Western Cape province in South Africa.
