Captive feral swine (family Suidae), USA. Swine are not native to the Americas, but have been brought there by humans on multiple occasions since the 1500s as a source of food, or to be hunted for sport. Following escape, wild populations gradually formed. These populations have grown enormously and spread across the US, causing around $1.5 billion in damage each year. Feral swine are a combination of escaped domestic pigs (Sus domesticus), Eurasian wild boars (Sus scrofa), and hybrids of the two, with some of the morphs visible here.
