This work of art...is the result of a commission...to perpetuate in the most durable of materials the deeds of our great and good Prince...In the centre is a medallion of Prince Albert, around which, and dividing the compartments, are guardian angels, geniuses bearing tablets on which are views of the three great Albert edifices - the Palace of the Legislature at Westminster, the island palace home of Osborne, and the Palace of Industry of all Nations, 1851; types of the United Kingdom, emblems of Commerce, Law, and Agriculture, complete the spaces; while within will be found the deeds of Albert the Good, as a patron of literature, science, and art - Albert, chancellor of an university, distributing rewards to the Church, Law, and Physic - Albert, promoter of the united arts, supported by Poetry, encouraging the arts of painting and design - Albert, president of scientific societies, encouraging Philosophy....
