Mr. Pixley, of the Victoria Rifles, winner of the Queens Prize at the National Rifle Contest, 1862. This gentleman is by no means an undistinguished rifleman, having fairly earned his marksmans badge at Hythe last year, where he likewise won his sectional prize. He has further carried off honours in the shooting of his own company (No. 1) of the Victoria, besides obtaining a rifle offered by some private donor. Mr. Pixley, however, had by no means a walk over, as he was pressed hard by two men in his own squad, and at the close of the firing had only two points to spare. He was, of course, loudly cheered when the figures were announced, and the members of the Victoria Corps, who mustered strongly in camp, bore their man on their shoulders in triumph across the common.
