The Wawona Tree; also known as Wawona Tunnel Tree; was a famous giant sequoia in Mariposa Grove; Yosemite National Park; California; in 1881 a tunnel was cut through the tree and this became a popular tourist attraction; allowing tourists to drive carts; carriages and later automobiles through the hole; estimated to have been over 2;000 years old; with a height of 69 m. (227) and circumference of 27m. (90); it fell in 1969 from the weight of snow on its crown and is now known as The Fallen Tunnel Tree; from a series of illustrations of Famous Trees produced as give away trade cards by the Cibils Beef Extract Company;
