Candida auris fungus, illustration. C. auris is a yeast found on the skin of humans. If internalised, C. auris can cause infections, known as candidiasis, of the bloodstream, the respiratory system, the central nervous system and internal organs, as well as the skin. Infection can be fatal. C. auris is often resistant to multiple anti-fungal treatments.
