Illustration of the Lunar Trailblazer spacecraft at the surface of the Moon. This small, orbiter spacecraft is planned for launch in early 2024 as part of NASA's SIMPLEx (Small Innovative Missions for Planetary Exploration) program. It will map the distribution of the different forms of water that exist on the surface of the Moon. This will help understand the lunar water cycle and inform future human missions as to where supplies of water may be found and extracted as a resource.
